Lazy 5 Ranch

Post a comment

Today we went to Lazy 5 Ranch, which was a lot of fun! I have been here before with my school on field trips but mommy, Isaac and Jacob had not. You can take a ride on the wagon or you can drive through in your own vehicle. Since it was so hot outside today, we decided to ride in our car so we could have the air condition. When you get there, you pay the man or woman and they give you a bucket of food to feed the animals. We had to drive really slow to make sure we didn't hit any of the animals because they don't pay attention to the cars. Most of the animals will come right to your car window to get the food but some of them are lazy and want you to throw it to them while they lay down. I think that is why they call it Lazy 5 Ranch!

This year in school

Post a comment

This year I have done so much better in school. My teacher is so wonderful! I used to have trouble with reading but I have mastered that and have made straight A's in all subjects this year. My favorite subjects are Math, Reading and Science. We only have 20 days left of school and that makes me sad in a way because I know we are going to move this summer. I am excited that we are moving into our new home but I know I will miss my friends and my teacher. We always have sleepovers so I know I will still get to see my friends. I have been making new friends at the new house and I think I will enjoy it just as much. I wonder how the new school will be and if my teacher will be as great as the one I have right now?

My first surgery!

Today was a bit scary for me. I woke up at 5:00 am this morning to go to the hospital. I didn't like not being able to have anything to drink or eat but mommy and Isaac said the doctor would let me have something after the surgery was over. The nurses were really nice to me and my doctor was great - as always! I was a bit impatient while waiting in the pre-op room so they gave me some Valium to calm me down and to help with the separation from mommy when I had to go with the nurses to the surgery room. It must have worked because mommy says I kept saying I needed to sleep. When I woke up, mommy and Isaac were there and a couple nurses were too. We didn't stay too much longer though. There was a boy older than me that had surgery today too and my doctor said he didn't have as much done as I did and he was doing a lot of screaming so I must have been a very big boy today because I never did cry!

(pre-surgery...Jacob was feeling pretty good by this point)

(Jacob seems to be doing well! He has had a bit of pain this afternoon and early evening but nothing unexpected. He was an excellent trooper for the entire staff and for us too! I think his first thought upon waking was remembering they were going to cut on his private area because when we got to see him in recovery, we got a first hand view of the cut. He immediately threw the blankets off himself to check to make sure everything was still *there*! :-) The doctor says he can return to school as early as tomorrow as long as the pain isn't too severe. Most of the numbing has worn off by now and he is beginning to feel some pain so I think that will be a decision made either later tonight or in the morning.)

Storms

So after waking up on Friday and watching the news briefly while getting ready for work, we discovered that we were so lucky to miss the severe storms that came through most of the Piedmont area Thursday night. We only received some thunder/lightning and maybe a few sprinkles. Other areas (including the surrounding areas of our new home) were not so lucky. Many lost power, tornadoes destroyed homes, businesses, etc. Isaac drove by our new home and we were fortunate that the only destruction we suffered was a tree was uprooted from the ground and laying on the grass. I am very thankful it wasn't much more considering within 5 minutes from us, several neighborhoods were destroyed completely from tornadoes. The tree isn't much an issue for us either because we were having that removed soon. Watching the news now, they are saying that there is a very strong possibility of dejavu again today...very comforting news.

New to Blogging

So after a long debate, we finally decided to join the world of blogging. I am still very new at this and with the busy life that we life, I am not so sure I will update everyday... we shall see.

I guess I could start the blog off by mentioning our new house! We finally closed last week and are in the process of chosing which color we want to have throughout most of the home. I was undecided whether I wanted one color or a variety but I believe the end decision was for one color (for the exception of Brianna and Jacob's room, laundry room and upstairs restroom which will not be painted at this time). I am leaning towards a light tan color. I am not a fan of white at all when it comes to walls and the color that is already on the walls is close to a tan already so it shouldn't be too hard to paint. We will be officially moved in on June 14th but in the meantime, we are moving items that we do not currently need into the home, which will only leave major items to be moved. What a nice idea! No rushing to pack, unpack etc.

Today also marks our niece's 1st birthday! Wow, where has that year gone? Josie is such an adorable baby. We don't get to visit often but her mom has been so wonderful at keeping their blog updated and allowing us to watch how her and her siblings are growing/changing. Happy Birthday Josie!
