Potentially Offensive License Plate To Be Replaced For Free

Thanks to some text message-savvy grandchildren, North Carolina drivers whose license plates have the potentially offensive "WTF" letter combination can replace the tags for free.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Tuesday the state Division of Motor Vehicles has notified nearly 10,000 holders of license plates with the letter combination.

Officials learned last year the common acronym stands for a vulgar phrase in e-mail and cell phone text messages.

The DMV recently realized the same letters appeared on the sample license plate on its own Web site.

Officials are trying to remove the plate from the site. DMV officials got word of the plates last July when a 60-year-old technology teacher from Fayetteville complained about the plate after her teenage grandchildren clued her in.

DMV officials said they try to keep up with the latest acronyms, and that anyone who has an issue with their plate can contact their local DMV office to request a new one.

YMCA

Post a comment

Since we moved, Brianna and I have been going to the YMCA. It is so much fun! We get to play, cook, make stuff and go swimming every day! One day each week, we go on a field trip too. I always have fun when we go somewhere. Brianna missed out this week because we got to go to a Park and we also rode a train! I have made a lot of friends at the YMCA that I will also get to see at my new school. I love going there.

6 Random things you may not know

Post a comment

Although I haven’t been involved in the “blog world” all that long, I was recently tagged to participate in a mere. I was tagged by Amber, who is not only my wonderful sister-in-law but also the amazing mother to my youngest nieces (Avery and Josie) and nephew (Cayden)! Here are 6 random facts about me:

1) I am a clutter free person. I cannot stand clutter and will readily throw anything away that I don’t feel is necessary to keep or have no use for it within a certain period of time. I love to tease my mother because I think she is the complete opposite. She will keep any and everything!

2) I love to read, however, I cannot stand for someone to read something to me word for word. It drives me crazy! I would much rather read it myself and be finished.

3) My family has decided I have an OCD – in cleaning. I am a nervous wreck if the house is not completely clean all the time. I cannot go anywhere or go to sleep until I know that everything is clean and finished before I leave. On the flip side, don’t look at my car. With all the errands and running we do, having two kids in the car constantly – my car never sees a “clean” day!

4) I am definitely not a morning person. I tend to be a huge night owl and could very well do fine if I could stay awake until around 3 am and sleep until about 9 or 10 am (however that isn’t possible with work!)

5) I am not a fan of chocolate. Never have been and really don’t see this changing. I will eat a slice of cake or something very small every once in awhile but it is very, very rare.

6) It is possible that you may never and if you do, it would be very rare, to see me try a food that I haven’t tried before. I have this thought that if I haven’t tried it before or if it doesn’t smell/look/sound good – I’m not trying it.

Considering I have just recently started blogging, I don’t know that many people who blog so I won’t tag anyone else. Thanks for the tag Amber :-)

Separation Anxiety

Post a comment

In the past, Brianna has always chosen to take a short trip to visit with grandma and grandpa during the summer. The longest she has ever been away has been 2 weeks tops and I was a nervous wreck by the time I was able to pick her up. Now this summer she decided she wanted to not only visit the above mentioned grandparents for 2 weeks beginning this up coming weekend, she also decided that she wanted to spend this week with her dad - 3 weeks without her. I'm not quite sure how I will deal with this summer "vacation" of hers! Jacob is also already showing signs of separation anxiety too. This comes from a child who loves to be with his big sister 24 hours a day. He enjoys including her in all activities that he does and it shows very well when she isn't around. Considering she was with her dad this past weekend, today made 3 days since she has been at home for any length of time. Is it time for her to come home yet?!?!

Yes I am here!

Almost finished...

Finally, at this point, I will safely say there are only 4 boxes that we have to finish going through- mostly the kids' games. At the other house, we had a closet area that we put them in, whereas we don't have that space here so I am still trying to figure out where to put said games right now (hence why they are still packed up). The rest are just random items that have a place to go, just belong in random rooms. I hope to get all that put up in a day or two. So far, I think Brianna and Jacob's rooms are finished, with the exception of some of their room decor stuff and their baskets to put their stuffed animals in.

(I think she has stuff animals in that bag, guess I should go through that too!)

(we have to do something about all that stuff on his dresser!)

I basically let them do their own rooms but I have to admit, for kids' bedrooms, they look decent. Our bedroom...well, is it just us or does it seem that if nothing has a place, it always ends up there? Currently that is where the above mentioned games and other items are (no surprise, no complaints).

Both bathrooms and laundry room are pretty much finished with the exception of something here or there...

The kitchen is almost finished, we need to rearrange where some counter stuff should be, but that is basically it, I think.

That leaves the living room, hmmm...I'm not sure I am liking how it is arranged right now. It looks in the pictures below like we have a sectional but it really is a couch close to the wall and the other is a love seat. Anyone have any ideas? They would be greatly appreciated! Maybe slide them apart some?

We didn't touch the outside this weekend, I'm sure that will come over the next few days but for now, I am very pleased overall and I am sure everyone else in the household is too!

We're here!

What a relief! After waiting for over a month, the big day came and went with a breeze :) With a lot of help from my cousin and her husband along with his friend (thanks for the trailer btw!!!), plus my nephews and brother - in - law, we were able to get the trailer to the old house, load everything on it, travel 30 minutes (+/-) and unload everything putting it all in its proper rooms in less than 2 hours! Now, if we can just get everything settled. I didn't think we would have so much to still unpack and get settled in but wow, we really do have a lot of stuff!

Needless to say, I am taking a break...catching up on a few things that I never got around to yesterday since work was so busy and I didn't take the time to do anything during my lunch. Hopefully pictures will come tomorrow -:)

The new house...

Post a comment

Every since we closed on the house, Brianna and Jacob have made a difference between our current home and the new home by calling them "home" and "the new house". Brianna is thrilled to move, except she is going to miss her friends dearly. Everyone, including the parents of said friends continue to assure her that the sleepovers, phone calls, and play dates will continue so hopefully once she sees that, things will get better for her. She has already made a few friends in the new neighborhood so I can see her transitioning quickly. Jacob has asked everyday since April 30th if we can move to the "new house"...until this weekend. As we had to make a few trips there for various reasons, he continued to express his thoughts on not wanting to go to the "new house". Every since we have lived at the current house, he has asked if we could have a new house, I wonder how long it will be once we live in the new house before he asks that question again!

On another note, the initial plan was to move Saturday morning. Isaac was going to pick up a u haul Friday evening and we would put everything in it Friday evening/Saturday morning. Those plans changed as we visited my aunt and uncle's house last night for a birthday party. The birthday boy's parents (my cousin and her husband) are borrowing an enclosed trailer that is normally used to transfer Nascar vehicles from a good friend. I'm thinking by moving Friday evening, we will be finished completely by Saturday afternoon and can rest Sunday...sounds like a plan to me!

It's really beginning to look a lot like Summer!

Post a comment

Not that I am really complaining, because honestly, I love summertime in North Carolina. It brings many BBQ's, fun in the sun, beach time, not to mention a fantastic tan! Although I have to admit, I am still quite pale since I have just now started (oops! I normally start in March or April!) Today my sister and her husband came by to show Isaac and I their new truck and the thermometer in the truck was reading 89 degrees, at 8pm! While I can do without the extreme humidity sometimes, I am just loving the temperature I am seeing for the next few days :-)

Is this a taste of what we will see the rest of the summer? I can remember several summers of very warm weather early in the season. I'm beginning to think we just might see several 100 degrees on the thermometers this summer. For me, that's just wonderful...

6 kids?!?!

Post a comment

Brianna and Jacob have several really good friends that we are sure they will miss when we move in two weeks. One thing we know for sure, there are some of those friends that we can safely say, will remain friends with Brianna and Jacob. Three of those are sisters. The two oldest are Brianna's friends and the youngest happens to be Jacob's "girlfriend", Bryanne.

(Jacob and Bryanne)

This past week, Brianna and Jacob were invited over to their house to spend the night Friday night. While Stacy and I enjoyed having a quiet evening alone Friday, we sure didn't prepare ourselves for having 6 kids over on Saturday night! Of course, it wouldn't be Jacob any other way, when he woke up Saturday morning, he was instantly ready to come home. That is when the idea came about for his "girlfriend" and one of her sisters to come spend the night at our house Saturday night. At this point, Brianna didn't know that her cousin Sabrina had already talked with Stacy and was coming over to spend the night Saturday night too. Current count, 5 kids. That's when our nephew Matt decided he wanted to spend the night too. 6 kids?!?! Wow. At least they had a really good time and overall, it was a very good sleepover, even for us.
